EPA Greenworks Challenge GROUP PROJECT - FALL 2017

Designing a sustainable green gateway to replace an impervious parking lot on campus and serve as a powerful visual statement to those entering the campus in the future purple line.

Note: This was a half-semester long project which my classmates and I collaborated on in order to produce a quality proposition to submit for the 2017 EPA Campus GreenWorks competition - results still pending.

Process:

Many conversations with campus facilities management

Assembled students from several departments to garner valuable interdisciplinary input

Run tools such as the EPA Stormwater Calculator to tabulate performance metrics

Certain tasks were split up - I created the sections and designed the final board.

Submitted a written document along with the final board to explain research and analysis and back up design decisions.

Programs Used: ArcGIS, Google Earth, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, AutoCAD

Adapting to Sea Level Rise INDIVIDUAL PROJECT - FALL 2017

Adapting an educational site to an area being quickly and dramatically altered by sea level rise.

Note: This was a half-semester long project which my classmates and I worked on individually. Each of us came up with our own research and solutions then presented them to representatives of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Process:

Research of sea level rise projections in the Chesapeake Bay.

Research of tidal marsh environmental systems

Site visits to Dorchester County, MD to meet with the teachers there and learn about the site

Compare sea level rise projections with elevation data to inform design

Consider existing programs as well as future potential
